1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that websites and applications place on your device to remember information about your visit. They allow a website or app to recognise you on return visits, keep you signed in, and operate features that require state between page loads.
Similar technologies — such as local storage and session storage — may perform comparable functions. References to "cookies" in this policy include these similar technologies where applicable.
2. How BuildHub Uses Cookies
The BuildHub marketing site (getbuildhub.com) and the BuildHub application (app.getbuildhub.com) both use cookies and similar technologies. This policy applies to both properties, which are operated by BuildHub Digital Ltd (Company No. 17187064).
We do not currently use any advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies designed to follow you across the internet. All cookies we set are either strictly necessary for the platforms to function, or used to measure performance and user behaviour on our own sites only.
We categorise our cookies into three types: Strictly Necessary, Analytics (consent required), and Marketing (consent required).
3. Cookies We Set
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the platforms to function. They cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Purpose | Where set | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
buildhub_auth | Keeps you signed in to your BuildHub account. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. JavaScript cannot read this cookie. | app.getbuildhub.com | 7 days |
buildhub_consent | Remembers your cookie consent choices on the marketing site (which analytics/marketing cookies you've allowed). | getbuildhub.com | 365 days |
| Session state | Technical cookies set by the web server to maintain your session during use. | Both properties | Session only (cleared on close) |
Analytics Cookies
With your consent, we use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use BuildHub, so we can improve the sites and the product. These cookies do not identify you personally — all data is aggregated and anonymised.
| Service | Cookie / Tracking | Purpose | Where set | Consent required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga, _gat, _gid, and others | Understand visitor behaviour, traffic sources, engagement, and conversion funnels. Helps us see which pages work and which don't. | Both properties | Yes — marked "Analytics" in consent banner |
| Microsoft Clarity | _clck, _cls_v, CLID | Free heatmaps and session recordings showing how visitors interact with pages. Helps us optimise for conversion. | getbuildhub.com | Yes — marked "Analytics" in consent banner |
Marketing Cookies
With your consent, we use marketing cookies to understand how well our marketing campaigns perform and to build audiences for remarketing.
| Service | Cookie / Tracking | Purpose | Where set | Consent required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn Insight Tag | li_fat_id, li_bfa, lidc | Measure the impact of LinkedIn advertising and understand which LinkedIn audiences engage with BuildHub. Enables LinkedIn-based remarketing for site visitors. | getbuildhub.com | Yes — marked "Marketing" in consent banner |
| Google Ads | _gac*, NID | Measure the impact of Google Ads campaigns. Enables Google-based remarketing for site visitors. | Both properties (if campaign active) | Yes — marked "Marketing" in consent banner |
| Meta (Facebook) Pixel | _fbp, _fbc | Measure the impact of Meta/Facebook advertising. Enables Meta-based remarketing for site visitors. | getbuildhub.com | Yes — marked "Marketing" in consent banner |
Analytics & marketing cookies — current status
The analytics and marketing cookies listed above reflect our full cookie inventory. Not all of these services are active simultaneously — for example, paid ad campaign cookies (LinkedIn, Google Ads, Meta Pixel) are only set when a campaign is running. The consent banner on getbuildhub.com controls which categories are active for your visit.
4. What We Don't Use
We do not currently set:
- Cross-site tracking cookies that follow you across the internet
- Third-party advertising cookies designed to show you ads elsewhere
- Email or device fingerprinting to identify you across unrelated sites
- Social media cookies for engagement metrics (we use LinkedIn Insight Tag for our own campaigns only, not for social engagement tracking)
If we add any of the above in future, we will update this policy and provide a cookie consent mechanism on first visit.
5. Managing Cookies
On the Marketing Site (getbuildhub.com)
All cookies we set on the marketing site — other than strictly necessary cookies — require your explicit consent via the cookie banner on first visit:
- Accept All — strictly necessary + analytics + marketing cookies
- Reject All — strictly necessary cookies only (analytics and marketing are blocked)
- Manage Preferences — granular control over which categories you allow
Your choice is stored in the buildhub_consent cookie for 365 days. Returning visitors will not see the banner again if they've already chosen. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the footer.
On the Application (app.getbuildhub.com)
The BuildHub application uses the buildhub_auth cookie to keep you signed in. This is strictly necessary and cannot be disabled — without it, you would be logged out on every page reload.
Analytics and marketing cookies on the application follow the same consent rules as the marketing site. Your consent choices apply to both properties.
In Your Browser
You can also manage or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may prevent BuildHub from working correctly, particularly on the application (app.getbuildhub.com).

6. Third-Party Cookies & Data Processors
Some of our cookies are set by third-party services we use. Each is subject to its own privacy and data processing terms:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — processes data in the United States under a Data Processing Agreement
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — processes data in the United States under a Data Processing Agreement
- LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company) — processes data subject to LinkedIn's Privacy Policy
- Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited) — processes data subject to Meta's Data Policy
- Stripe (for payments on the app) — sets cookies for payment security and fraud prevention (see Stripe's Cookie Policy)
All of these services are GDPR-compliant. Full details on how each processor handles your data are in our Privacy Policy.
